Buy our jam!

Help Saffron raise funds to invest in our local community by buying the jars of delicious jam and chutney we make every year!

The jam and chutney project grew out of our original decision to take on 12 acres of disused land in the heart of the city. Thanks to the enthusiasm and work of many volunteers and trainees,  the site has since produced everything from striped beetroot and blue pumpkins to exotic crops from around the world. One of the most successful projects was the growing of fruit, so a jam production line seemed the obvious next step!

This project has far exceed our expectations many times over, offering work experience opportunities for many young adults with learning disabilities, and demonstrating perfectly how to tackle sustainable food production. The jam we make is bursting with flavour and brings in a small income which we use to set up more training places and keep our support projects up and running.

Following on from the success of our jam, we decided to set up some bee hives so we could produce our own local honey. We now have our own, very productive apiary full of bees buzzing away happily.

It’s very difficult to access funding for community projects at the moment, so if we are to continue providing opportunities for local people, this enterprise is critical to our ongoing survival. If you would like one (or more!) jars, please contact us. Many thanks.
